i dream of guilin

my mom is making a trek back to her
village in the province of guangxi next spring–
her first time back since leaving china at age five
or so. she’s been back to china since, but never
to her home village.
guangxi is where the famous and gorgeous
guilin mountains are located, immortalized by

i pine

*especially low tide this past sunday.
so much so that the mossy green rocks
furthest out were revealed along with its
tidepools. munchkin is clinging to the love
like a rabid monkey and the sweet pea is a
smudge of red. i feel much blessed to live so

i haven’t seen my wild canyon bunny for near
two months. [...]

yesterday. feeling slightly bereft [...]

on the one hand, it’s the everyday mundane
business of writing and revising, usually in
my pajamas at a messy dining table, loopy
writer inside her own loopy head. then you’re
in nyc meeting [...]

lotus and kingfisher

this is the subject i’ve been working
on in my brush painting class the past few
weeks. lotus has become one of my favorite
flowers to paint–there’s a regal
serenity to them. you’ll understand if you see them
in various shapes of bloom during the summer.
and birds, i’ve always loved birds.
i especially love this little guy!
i can hardly believe it’s [...]
