a peaceful morning

i’ve been painting quite a lot in the new year and
trying to add to my very small collection of
brush paintings as our (chinese brush painting
society) show in balboa park is in mid march.
the person that i usually hire to mount my brush art
has retired, and so far, no one has replaced him.
thus, i’m left with unmounted [...]

about a lily

i had a fabulous time with my
brush artist friends on tuesday night.
ate great food, then proceeded to paint.
our teacher had been encouraging us
to paint rocks (which can also turn into
mountains for landscape paintings) and
i finally tackled the subject.
the hardest component in this painting

celebrating autumn

i can hardly believe it’s november.
my sweet pea is turning six in a week or
so! this marks six years since i’ve had a
regular 9 to 5 job. if you told me i’d be
a published author back then, i wouldn’t
have believed it! =)

i’m back from my weekend at ala chicago.
it was incredible. filled with so many unforgettable
firsts for this debut author! i came home pretty
much shattered as i was so excited and inspired
after the newbery banquet that i couldn’t sleep until
4am. the house is a mess! i have yet to unpack.

i failed to mention a few weeks back that
my lotus painting with the delicate dragonfly
(the one featured on my bookmark!) won the
third place ribbon at the fair this year. yay!
