i’ve been so busy of late that i haven’t
taken a vanity foto in over a month!
that’s busy. ha! here i am (this morning)
showing off my new cape from anthropologie,
purchased on sale for a super deal!
i finally got the chance to get a hair cut
this past weekend and trimmed it a bit
shorter than usual. i shower at night
so the hair is pretty loopy in the mornings.
ah well. in keeping with disheveled cam theme.
BUT with new and improved outfit. =D
i feel like i’m in the circus and
am the super juggler. the
whole family has been dealing with
that chesty cough and cold that everyone
seems to have. sweet pea had fevers and
i had to take munchkin to the doctor yesterday–
confirmed ear infection.
i finally succumbed to the cold after more
than two months of snot and sneezing my way.
it didn’t last even a week–mommies don’t have
the luxury of being sick for long. ha!
this morning, sweet pea was honored
as a superstar of the month assembly.
(her kindy teacher draws names randomly.)
she got a certificate and oreos and milk after,
and she was so proud. i’m proud of her too.
i do everything “experts” tell me not to–i expect
more out of her, to set an example as the
eldest child and i coddle munchkin.
i should set aside a “therapy fund” for
them now! =p
still working on the picture book
dummy. i love it because i’m painting
more than i ever have–and trying new
subjects. i tend to be impatient
and a perfectionist–awful combo. and my
brush art teacher has come around to
my table to salvage discarded paintings
many times. but since
virginia asked for “rough” sketches, i’m
doing rather “rough” paintings (like the
daffodils below), which is quite liberating.
randomosities
1. happened to catch good will hunting
last night. i’ve always thought matt damon was
really cute. even before the bourne series.
2. my gracious, has it been 12 years since
that film came out?
3. discussed with the love my COVET of
a pet tortoise. the steps we would need to
take to keep it safe within our back garden.
and if the bunny would still visit with a tortoise
hanging around.
4. decided that remembering to throw a carrot
out each day is about as much as i can manage
in the pet department.
5. happened to surf across the john and kate
+8 show, and they got two puppies. ON TOP
of having 8 kids? wow.
6. considered asking mom to mind the bubs
so we can go away for two days to mine for
tourmaline. doesn’t that sound romantic? 8)
was that random enough for you?
happy tuesday, everyone!!

You look great! Even in the morning, lol.
My wife loves Anthroplogie. That and Oilily.
Good Will Hunting. Good one. Time to see that again.
I’ve never been able to stomach anthropologie’s prices, but I love walking through and just looking at the colors and patterns. They make some of the most beautiful things!
Sweet Pea is adorable.
My in-laws have tortoises and they are utterly maintenance free. You’d just have to add some lettuce to your carrot throwing. Two are the endangered kind, and they hibernate in a box in the closet for a few months during the winter, but the third just wanders around the backyard year-round. My children LOVE them.
ron–the oilily prices make me go =O! even more so than anthropologie. and yes, loved good will hunting!
kiersten, i only buy from the sales racks. and even that is more than i would have spent a decade ago. it’s funny, i’ve slowly moved from gap to banana republic to anthroplogie. my crit friend introduced me!
you are trying to talk me into a tortoise!
sorry about the sickies running around, cindy… we had our share in the great white north, too
nice hair and coat
i hope when you throw that carrot out, the greens are still attached?
happy tuesday to you and yours :D
You and Sweet Pea = Adorable.
Hope the sickness leaves your home soon! I’ve found orange juice is a good combatant.
Which crit friend introduced you? I’ve been eyeing anthropologie for years but haven’t had the gall to actually buy anything. Maybe when the preggo weight is finally off. (Ok, so now THATS out in the open web.)
Congrats to Sweet Pea! She’s grown SO MUCH since I last saw her.
Love the cape – love the super star! Sorry about the sniffles. I have ‘em too :(
LW, alas, no greens. but a bit of the green stub. i tried greens from carrot and the bunnies were a bit choosy and aloof. ha! they like the orange bits and our grass. =D
sara, thank you!!!
amber, kirsten got me addicted! she’s always been the stylish one!
kim, hope you feel better soon too!
What a great pick of your kiddo! She looks so proud. Love the color blue on you as well. :-)
The cape’s nice but I actually love that fireplace in the background!
Hope everyone is feeling better soon. Sweet pea looks cute despite the ear infection.
Your daughter is so cute! I hope you feel heaps better soon as well as the rest of the fam.
That was great randomosity, thx. :)
Baby girl is SO KYOOOOT! Oh man I just want to give her a hug!
And I like the shorter cut. It’s pure whimsy. :)
I love Good Will Hunting! And that cape you’re wearing is a stunner, too. Good buy! Hope the sequel is coming along well, and congrats on progress with the PB :-)
How come you always look great? It’s incredible. Your little one is super cute, too. Go figure:)
Please, please go mine tourmaline. That’s awesome.
angela, i love the blue too! thank you!
MF, ha! yes, i had that fire place resurfaced after too many hgtv episodes. i love it too! it was when i was nesting and prego with sweet pea!
christy, thank you! i am feeling all right, but the bubs and the love are sick. =(
jkb, hurrah! i made the foto of sweet pea a bit small…
angie, i haven’t touched the sequel since november. it’s starting to try and talk to me tho–which is GOOD!
natalie, you’re a sweetheart. it’s because i take 20 shots and choose the best one. haha! secrets of a cam girl! and tho some people don’t think so, sweet pea and i share similar features at this age. =D
We’ve been sick at my house too . . . and I am sick of being sick!
Congrats to SweetPea!
Love the cape. It looks so comfortable . . . and comforting too.
I’m glad your brush art teacher rescues your discarded paintings . . . it doesn’t have to be perfect to be beautiful. ;-)
joan–you sound like my teacher. she’s right, of course. the trick is to capture the essence of the subject somehow. sounds zen, but those are the best paintings!
and i hope you guys are better soon too. i am sick of being sick as well. blurgh. can’t wait till spring!!
