one wish by leigh brescia

onewish

a sunday deb tour stop with leigh brescia!
her debut novel is called ONE WISH.

About One Wish
Overweight Wrenn Scott desperately wants
to be popular and snag a hot boyfriend. Her
amazing voice (for once) overshadows her weight
when she lands a lead role in the high school
musical. Pushing to get thinner by opening night,
Wrenn’s waistline shrinks as she learns all the wrong
ways to lose weight from a new “it-girl” friend in the
show. By opening night, the old Wrenn has almost
disappeared. After a crisis reveals her weight-loss
tricks, Wrenn realizes there are much more important
things than being thin, popular, or even dating a hunk.

About Leigh Brescia

Leigh Brescia grew up in North Carolina, spending most
of her days playing in the woods behind her home and
imagining she was a princess. She earned her Bachelor
of Arts degree in English Communication from Mount
Olive College and her Master’s degree from Fort Hays
State University. She currently teaches online English
composition courses for three universities, and an
online “Writing Novels for Young Adults” course for
UC Irvine.

When she’s not grading papers or writing, she
enjoys reading and watching movies. She sings
when she’s in a good mood and has killed every
plant she’s ever owned. She currently lives in
North Carolina with her husband and her
three-year-old.

and the cindy interview!

1. who is your literary character crush?

They are too numerous to name, but at the
top of the list: Mr. Darcy, Edward Cullen, and
Owen Armstrong (from Just Listen) . . . Sa-woon

And I have to admit I tend to crush on the love
interests I create, too.

this is the second time i’ve seen just listen and
owen listed, i think! must look into it!

2. who is your author crush? (does not have to
be romantic!)

John Green . . . and I’m serious about crush, here.
As in, should I ever be in the same room with him,
I may faint. And I’ve never fainted in my entire life.

(If the guy I am sorta married to but not allowed to
talk about online is reading this, he is rolling his
eyes, I assure you.)

ha! i loved paper towns.

3. what is your favorite pastry?

Éclairs.

(That is a pastry, right? Is it sad that I had to go to
Wikipedia to look up types of pastries? And here I’m
constantly telling my students not to go there,
because it’s not a reliable source. Shame on me.)

i totally wiki. i know it’s not reliable tho. meep! but
only for fun stuff. i think anything that needs to go
into the oven at some point is a pastry? that’s my
definition anyway!

4. what is the favorite scene from your novel?

Probably Wrenn’s conversation with Steven after
her birthday party, because it’s really the first
time she acknowledges that she kind of likes him.

Thanks Cindy!
