lotus and kingfisher

kingfisher1

this is the subject i’ve been working
on in my brush painting class the past few
weeks. lotus has become one of my favorite
flowers to paint–there’s a regal
serenity to them. you’ll understand if you see them
in various shapes of bloom during the summer.
and birds, i’ve always loved birds.
i especially love this little guy!

i can hardly believe it’s june already!
july will mean the start of my conferences
through september. i got word that i’ll
most likely be on a fantasy panel at comicon
this summer–so that’s really exciting. and
i truly cannot wait for the ALA conference in
chicago! i’ll be signing at the harpercollin’s
children’s booth 2011 on saturday, july 11th
at 10am!

love libraries and librarians so hope to meet
many at the conference!!

i stopped by the local bn tonight to buy
some children’s books and asked on a lark
if i could sign stock. and the clerk let me bring
all the copies (displayed face out, yay!) to the
front to sign! i also signed stock at a local
independent bookstore, warwicks!

it’s late and i need to eat ranier cherries!
do you like this painting? if so, you can WIN
it if you enter my super duper win an original
brush painting or $100 bookstore giftcard
contest and signed copy of Silver Phoenix.
it officially ends next monday (6/8) but
i may extend it because i’d like 200 participants
so i can give away BOTH prizes. also, i’m putting
off tallying the raffles. ha! will keep you posted!!
make sure you comment with link on original post!
