warning!! this vlog post is FULL OF SPOILERS!
it’s as spoiled as expensive blue cheese. so
please avoid watching if you haven’t read Silver
Phoenix and hate spoilers! =) this vlog doesn’t
address all the questions posed. but i felt it was
long enough at 6 minutes. so consider this PART 1. =D
the questions :
I have a question too! I found Chen Yong’s brother,
Li Rong, to be such a loveable character, in some ways
easier to love than Chen Yong. Given that Chen Yong is
the love interest in the book, I was wondering if you
worried about Li Rong overshadowing him. If you did,
did you use any particular techniques to keep that from
happening? Also, which one would you be more likely to
fall for?
from katie carroll
Silver Phoenix has some interesting and vivid descriptions
that seem like they might be idioms. One that stands out:
Liao Kang “was a bamboo of a boy, the barely green type”
Is this a sort of idiom or just a great description of your own?
from gaby
will there be more books with these characters?
(I hated to say goodbye to them.)
from jennifer crow
My question is, are Ai Ling and Chen Yong going to kiss
in the second novel or are you going to make me wait for
the third? Will there be a third? I guess that’s two questions.

Li Rong was my favorite character, too! I loved his personality but felt he lacked his elder brother’s intensity. This reminds me that I’ve been meaning to do some Silver Phoenix fanart. Now I’ve decided to draw Li Rong
What fun to see and hear you!
I love the idea of the parallel story lines in the new book. Can’t wait to read it.
beth, i don’t choose the set up of my novels usually, they just let me know how they should be. i just hope i can execute it well!! and i’m glad you enjoyed the vlog!! =DD
niji, if you ever do fanart of li rong let me know and i’ll post here! i love fan art!!!
“They’re totally going to make out! Not really… maybe.” LOL!! Well, I hope they do.
Li Rong wasn’t my favorite, but he was definitely beloved by me, and I was really hoping that he wouldn’t really die, that he would have been brought back by some supernatural means somehow, but bam :o( No luck.
Thanks for the vlog Cindy :o) I heart it.
Thanks for uploading this! I love vlogs ^_^
BTW, I gave your book to my sister for her birthday–she read it in a day and a half! So you have another fan!
Oooh, I don’t want to spoil it for me when I read Silver Phoenix, so I have to control myself.
I will admit that I love spoilers! I love to know what’s going to happen and everything…
…But when I read the book, everything gets ruined and I feel regret.
I know sounds crazy, but it’s true :x
Henrique
PS: Cinndy, The flowers in the background are WONDERFUL! =D
i heart : makes kissy noises. =DDD did you have a favorite character in my book then?
dara, yay! so glad you enjoyed it! and thanks so much for passing SP on to your sister. younger or older?
luiz henrique, i hate spoilers. ha! i like going in knowing nothing. i don’t even like non-spoiler reviews in fear their opinion will affect my viewpoint on novel or film!!
and i LOVE my plumes of hydreanga thank you!!
i heart, i considered briefly bringing li rong back. but it felt like cheating on my part.
Nice vlog, missus!
Can’t wait for the sequel.
“i don’t even like non-spoiler reviews in fear their opinion will affect my viewpoint on novel or film!!”
This totally happens with me too! And sometimes it happens worse – you read a review and expect something and when you finally read the book…. it’s not what you expected it to be. I think that’s the worse of all! =O
In our garden there’s a flower totally like yours, but it is blue and it is slightly different! =)
Great vlog! Thanks for answering my question so fully.
You rock!
Hahahaha @ Li Rong as your male alter ego!
gaby, thank you for asking a great question!!
aerin–i think there’s def more of me in li rong than in chen yong. ha!
sue, thank you!! <3
hernique luiz — it could be the acidity of the earth. acid and akaline changes the color of the flowers! last year it was periwinkle, which i love.
Oh, I just twittered you a question about this before I went to your blog and saw you answered it! I really want to find out SP’s story, but I also really want to find out the rest of Ai Ling’s story with Chen Yong. So glad to hear these stories will be covered!
By the way… I mentioned I live in NZ and couldn’t get hold of a copy of SP, so when a friend decided to visit the States I asked her to get a copy for me. :) Yay! There’s always a way. And I’ll definitely find a way to get my hands on your sequel as soon as it comes out, too! :)
…and I’ll shut up now and let you get back to writing. ;)
ruth, yay for friends! thank you for reading and i love that silver phoenix has gone international! =DD
