i’ve been so busy these past few months that
i haven’t had any time to post food fotos.
now that’s busy!
but never fear, i’m always eating so here are
some recent fotos from eating adventures this week!
had lunch with my entourage aka “the brat pack”
at the best jewish deli in town!
whenever i think i’ll try something new, it never
happens, because i love the matzo ball soup too much!
the deli is famous for their portions. here is
my “half” tuna salad sandwich. ha!
and i can never ever leave without buying
a box of cookies to go. the mexican wedding
cookies are a favorite, along with marzipan
thumbnails filled with raspberry. i buy florentines
for the love.
everybody step back slowly now
and no one will get hurt. =)
last night, i took my writing friend, k, to
my favorite italian restaurant in early celebration
of her birthday. we are both
foodies and had a delicious time! started out
with the caprese (which as i’ve said, is my absolute
favorite salad). one day i shall have caprese salad
over looking the beautiful waters of capri.
homemade meatballs in marinara with
toasted foccacia. i’m drooling just thinking about it.
my entree, gnocchi alla vodka.
pasta also made in house. CHEWY GOODNESS!
k got a pesto dish that looked yummy too!
k chose the banana cake for dessert, which we
shared. deeeelicious!!!
okay, let’s all wipe the drool from our faces. =p~
what’s been new with me?
i am pretty much done with immediate signings
for now. still trying to lock down on a location to
sign in los angeles but haven’t had any luck so far.
(sad, since i’m from los angeles and have friends there!
i’m so sorry!!)
also, gearing up for travel from july through september.
but…what has been foremost on my mind is my sequel.
it’s time to leap again. and it feels like jumping every time.
picture me at the cliff peering over, walking in circles mumbling
to myself like a crazy person, putting one leg out, pulling it
back. it’s exactly like that. but i’m going public so i can be
held accountable. =)
i’m excited for my sequel. and it’s not so much
that i’m scared of writing poorly (as i am allowed
to write utter poo) but what i have in mind is so
large, i wonder how i could ever render the story
properly with mere words. but i guess that’s my job,
right? hoping to leap this weekend. i’m swiss cheesing
my way back into the story, writing out of sequence.
this is going to be interesting…
and i shall leave you with some interview linky love :
tarie interviews me at into the wardrobe,
in celebration of may’s APA month. she also
interviews lisa yee and justina chen headley!
find out what i say to her query :
Why do you think there is the misconception that
young adult literature is not as deep or as complex
as literature for adults?
i also make an 09 deb stop at carrie ryan’s blog.
see a favorite sentence that i chose from Silver Phoenix
and why i chose it!
and finally, i’ve the honor of being part of the
summer blast tour, in which trisha of the ya ya yas
interviews me. i talk about the ending of Silver
Phoenix as well as the sequel.
and don’t forget the contest i’m holding to give
away an original framed brush painting or/and
a $100 bookstore gift card. if we have 200 entrants,
i will give away BOTH prizes. running through june 8th.
be sure to comment on actual post!!
heartfelt thanks to so many of you who have bought my
novel and reviewed it or posted about my release date
on your blog!!
and now, i look forward to painting lotus in class
tonight. i love the serene elegance of it.

Cindy: LOVE the food pics! I am about half-way through Silver Phoenix right now, and it makes me so hungry!!!
And gnocci is a particular favorite of mine.
PS: I plan on posting your interview tomorrow!
“how i could ever render the story
properly with mere words”
This describes perfectly how I feel about every book idea I have ever loved.
But you will do it!
And no thank you for making me NEED gnocchi NOW.
We make Matzo – but I’ve never seen such a big ball.
Your pics are always so tempting
Hi Cindy,
I just posted a link to your interview on Headdesk for Writers on my blog, and about the wonderful news that the American Library Association’s Booklist named Silver Phoenix a Top Ten Fantasy and SF book for 2009. I love your blog, your web site, and the generous way you share your writing process. ~ Annie
Oh all that food looks amazing! I especially like the pictures of all the sweets–I have a huge weakness for cakes and cookies…and donuts and other various pastries :P
So there IS a sequel! Yaaaaay! I was worried you were going to leave us hanging ;).
Great food pics, and best of luck in getting back on the ol’ writing pony. You will rock it! We have faith in you!
thank you, beth!

And I know your sequel will be great!
Ohh, you made me hungry with those pictures!
That is so funny, I am the queen of the food photo at the table and I get teased for it all the time…
You have to come up to LA and do a reading! Kami and I want to meet you!
