had a busy and uncharacteristically social
weekend. it’s hard to believe that this
coming weekend will be the last before
we leave for the uk next week. i feel very
unprepared and a little overwhelmed by the
list of things that need to be done
before this trip.
my head is all over the place. today,
i was the only mom to forget that there
was a staff meeting at munchkin’s preschool
and failed to pick him up on time. the director
had to call me. =X
i received my galleys for SILVER PHOENIX
yesterday, which gives me an idea of what
the novel will look like in its final form.
very exciting. i actually find proofing it
familiar and calming.
mind is grinding in slow circles in regards
to novel 2. i have some ideas, but the
thoughts have to filter through the other
sludge floating within my mind. there’s
only so much space in my squishy head. ha!
on friday night the love and i had
a lovely date night at tapenade,
a french bistro. it may be our last for
a while, as our wonderful babysitter is
moving back to the bay area. =( it’s so
difficult to find a good reliable sitter you
can entrust with your bubs.
this was absolutely my favorite dish
that night. gnocchi with mushrooms
in a wine sauce. it was SO GOOD!
a simple salad with goat cheese on
the cracker.
i’m a stick in the mud and will almost
always get the salmon if it’s on the menu.
i like chicken, too. but i eat chicken nearly
everywhere–so i fancy up for date night
restaurants with fish. =) i’m not a fan of
beef or lamb or pork in slabs. the flavor scares
me. the more processed the meat and
the less it resembles actual flesh, i’m more
likely to like it. (think hot dogs. ha!)
the love is pescatarian.
i’m not sure if that’s an actual word,
but my pescatarian friend used it, so…
he doesn’t eat any meat at all except for
seafood. no, i don’t know why. this was
the special–mahi mahi in a citrus sauce.
yes, their creams were all frothy. a bit weird,
but tasted great!
i chose the dessert!
profiteroles made in house with
vanilla ice cream. i asked for the chocolate
sauce on the side and boy am i glad i did.
they gave us a lot! and we used about 4 tiny
spoonfuls. i’m not as much of a chocolate
fiend as the love is.
some linky love. the debs have
a contest going where you can win
a $25 gift card to buy books by leaving

i’ll babysit! hahaha
Oh, boo! You’re going to be in the U.K. the same time Lisa and I had previously planned to go. Oh well, hope you have a fabulous time!
As always, the food pics are yummy! I’m hungry just looking at them.
Oh, and as far as your next novel . . . it sounds to me like you should put if off until you get back from the trip. Just put your mind off novel 2 for a bit, and you’ll come back refreshed and with a tons of ideas. I bet you anything. :)
Oh that food looks awesome! Especially the gnocci. I adore gnocci!
Hey that authornow site is awesome!!!
galleys are so exciting! that means real people are reading your book now. you’ve gone public, baby!
The food is beautiful! I’d be tempted not to eat it – yeah, right.
I hope you have a fantastic time in the UK. We loved it. People were so incredibly friendly.
And HUGE CONGRATS on the galleys!!!
Cindy, when I’m writing a book, I forget things constantly. Yesterday we missed the last day of my kids’ fabulous music class. No reason–my head was just so filled with other things I forgot. So don’t be too hard on yourself ; )
And I agree with the others. Give yourself some time to stew on book two–it’ll come!
I love your food pics!! Makes me hungry!!
Congrats on your galleys, so exciting!!!
mmmm . . . that food looks goooooood!
P.S. I got your book sent out today! I hope it’ll reach you by the weekend! :0)

Cindy, Cindy, Cindy . . . you should know better than to post pictures of scrumptious food on your blog for very pregnant me to drool over. ;)
I’m so thrilled for you! *does a happy dance* I’ll refrain from the Elaine dance as of now . . .
Thanks for the warning of the food fotos! I have to ask… did you like the foam? I don’t care for foam on my food. I don’t even like foam on my cappucino.
Thanks for the link love!
Oh and book two will come when you’re not looking. It will sneak up on your one night in your sleep and then you won’t be able to stop. When things are slow for me, I try to dream about it at night. It’s amazing the things I come up with for my books in my sleep!
LW, yeah, they turned annon off. =(
christa, sorry to torture you!!
sheri, i loves the linky love! and yes, i hope i get some quiet time to percolate and dream over the holidays!
YUM! I *heart* gnocci…there’s an amazing little place near me called Cafe Falai in SoHo — best homemade pasta EVER. If you’re ever in NYC, I’ll treat you!
