totally random

i tend to be worse case scenario
girl at times, abiding often by
murphy’s law. (or sod’s law, as
my english pen pal would say–funny!)
so when i put out my two sticks of
carrots in the late afternoon as i
always do two days ago, and the bunnies
did not emerge within 10 minutes
as they always do, i worried.

by 8pm, when the bubs were put
to bed and the carrots were still there.
i worried more. at 10pm, i turned on
the back porch light and stuck my
head out, only to stun one rabbit
into frightened immobility, neck
stretched and ears tense. i quickly
shut the door, happy once more.

the next morning, both carrots were
gone. who knew bunnies stayed up
as late as 10pm? i’ve become so
used to them, i’ll be really sad if they
decide to move on from our little patch
of lawn.

i also wonder if they are a couple?
do bunnies mate for life?
i’d venture no, as so few creatures
of this earth do.

the other night, sweet pea stepped
out from the shower after a wash
and as i wrapped
a towel around her, she said :

ah! clean as a … jewel.

clean as a … princess!

clean as a … car!

which made me chuckle, my
little not yet five year old playing
with similes. so cute!
i’m not sure where clean as a car
came from, as our family wagon is
washed on a seasonal basis–if it’s
lucky. =X

i’m a coldplay fan and love
the viva la vida single (and the
entire album–tho i didn’t fall
in love with it at once as
with the previous ones. it grew
on me. the sounds are so diff in
this one).

and munchkin has been singing
the chorus in his husky little voice.
which is so funny as he’s barely just
taken to expressing himself better with
language, to hear him singing of
roman calvaries be my mirror my sword
and shield…i know st.peter won’t call
my name…

it just makes me laugh. 8)

sweet pea likes this song, too.
but her absolute favorite is hung up
by madonna. which she calls the
taco back song.

been watching mad men and
enjoying it so much! the vibe
is vastly different and the writing
excellent. it feels much more fresh
to me than something like heroes
(which i also watch–tho season
two got so unwieldy i lost some interest).

my critique friend had mentioned
it in passing and i was sure it’d
be part of hbo. (which we don’t pay for.)
but it’s on amc. i recommend!

see? couldn’t get much more
random than this, huh?

Love Cold Play too and that song. We listen to it over and over and over again!

We have a bunny that comes back every year and has her babies. They are sooooo adorable, soooo small! But now I know where the saying, dumb bunnies comes from. She will make her warren almost anywhere! In a divot of the lawn… right outside my sliding door… right by the AC unit! All you have to do is find a tuft of bunny fur and viola, underneath are baby bunnies all curled up in each other. Also, mama bunnies don’t sit with their babies in the day. Her milk is so rich and filling, they feed in the early morning and then she finds a place to hide and only comes back at night…

Amazing there are as many bunnies in the world as there are – I guess that’s why they breed so often!

I’ve heard about mad men. My dad loves that show. I haven’t been able to catch it yet. Is it on amc now?

sheri, i am tivoing from amc, yes! catch it! i’m not even sure which season i’m watching? the second? it doesn’t take much to get engrossed into the story and the characters.

and yikes if my bunnies make a baby nest! and isn’t that every mom’s dream, to feed the rabid .. er rabbits in the morning and hide somewhere for the rest of the day? or is it just me? HAHA!

I love Cold Play, rabbits, and the sound of little ones singing.

Our own story like that is that my daughter at three got into OutKast’s Hey Ya, and sang:

Shake, shake, shake it. Shake it like a polar bear picture.

    Cindy,
To answer your question from my blog … bunnies usually mate with whomever is closest. Most of the time that’s another bunny, but I used to have a cat that could tell you some stories.

And bunnies aren’t as dumb as one might think. They’re afraid of predators, which does include humans, but if the get used to humans then they’re more likely to build a nest near a human residence than out in the open somewhere. And, to add, mother bunnies stay away from their litters on purpose; most predators that hunt rabbits use eyesight as their main sense for hunting (with some exceptions, but rabbits aren’t usually high on wolves’ menu when there’s bigger and slower food sources), and since baby buns don’t move around much but the mother does, the mom stays away from the babies during the day to help draw away any predators.

jacqui, haha! i love it! and i love that song, too! heeeey ya!

ty, we did not mean to offend the bunnies!! we just don’t know as much as you do–and now we know. wow! that’s really rather smart of the bunnies. i dunno what i’ll do if i got a wren (?) of bunny babies–other than be thrilled and agitated all at once.

and mating with whomever is closest–haha!!

Nah, not offended. Buns can be dumb at times, too, just like any critter including us humans.

    And it’s a “warren” of bunnies. :-)

Good luck if you get a warren. The biggest problem you’d have to watch for is digging and eating from any nearby gardens, but I’m guessing the warren probably won’t set up shop in your backyard. But you never know.
