hong kong just because

indulging my wanderlust–some
more fotos from our hk trip in 2002.

i liked everything this woman sold at
her stand in the jade market.

grocery shopping on sunday. again,
my love of open air markets.

i’ve lived in nyc, london and taipei.
but hk was the most crowded place i’d
ever visited. they built up and up
(these are the older buildings, which
aren’t so high) to accommodate all the
people living there.

the infamously squishy, cloyingly
pungent and sweet durian fruit.

i prefer the food in taiwan, but
hk has the best dim sum, hands
down!

we took a long bus ride to stanley
market. it rained on the way back.
this is a cemetary on the hillside.
even the dead are pressed for space
in hk.

trip from kowloon to the island of
hk on the starferry.

another dim sum meal–this time
on floating restaurants. they have little
boats that take you to them.

happy monday! not!! 8)

…and I bet the old parts of Tokyo would look like HK if we hadn’t burnt the city to the ground in the 40s.

Cindy, what is it you do that lets you travel all over the place like a jetsetter? I must know, for I plan to emulate your career choice.

You're a sadist! Posting all these scrumptious pictures of food when my kitchen's being remodeled and I'm living on cereal, PB&J and microwaved Boca burgers.
