virginia shared two mock covers with
me yesterday that pretty much blew me
away. it sounds like they tried
lots of different things.
i keep mooning over them and
can’t imagine how breathtaking the final
version will be. of course, i can’t wait to
share with you when that time comes!!
i also received the flap and cover copy.
i did very minor commenting (my editor
knows what she’s doing, of that i have
no doubt) and found out i’ll get an author
foto along with my bio. my ego is
stupendously thrilled. a foto of me on
my book. wow!!
i told virginia that my parents will not
read this novel, not in english anyway.
(my mom does practice english by reading the
enquirer, which i find very cute and funny!) but
they’ll be very proud to see my name
and foto on a book–especially my dad.
he’s a big show off. 8)
in further exciting news, we have finally
settled on a new title!
SILVER PHOENIX : Beyond the Kingdom of Xia
the latter is a subtitle for the series,
and will be included with my sequel title.
it was really difficult to come up with
a title, and i’m so happy we’ve chosen one.
it looks fantastic on the mock covers, too!
i can’t begin to tell you how exciting this
whole process has been, and how much i’ve
learned. i’ve been included every step of
the way and truly, i don’t think a debut
author can ask for a better experience.
i mean, the only unfortunate no
was that i couldn’t model as my heroine
for the cover. haha! (so what if i’m
twice her age? i moisturize. =)
seriously tho, you guys have to see the
model we were lucky enough to
get. she is beautiful and she looks bad ass.
exactly as i pictured her. i love it.
i feel so fortunate and HURRAH for
greenwillow books! *cheers* =D
i wrote most of my acknowledgment
page today. nothing definite nor
final. i’m not sure why it’s proving
to be difficult for me. i can’t get over
the feeling like i’ve won the oscar
and it’s speech time. (!!!)
happy weekend, everyone!
i’m painting chrysanthemums tonight.
*feeling wanderlust.
this was our visit to hong kong in
2002. i’m eating the little cupcakes
they make that are egg shaped.
(they used to do them in nyc’s
chinatown, the smell always got
me and i’d leave with a small bag
of chinese cupcakes. always.)
the wondrous thing about hk was
they made them in taro flavor.
a favorite of mine. YUM!

But you look quite mischevious to me in that picture!
Love the food pics! Keep ‘em coming!

This blog gets my vote as a Blog of Note. (Are you listening, BloggerMasters?)
I too like the new title. As lovely as your cover is sure to be, it will never be as lovely as one of your paintings.
I’m still jealous of Neil Gaiman for having one!
